November 27, 2013
By ED FRANKS (efranks@breezenewspapers.com) , Pine Island Eagle

"Everyone is invited to participate in the 7th Annual Golf Outing," organizer Phyllis Dowd said. "The event takes place at the Alden Pines Golf Club and will raise funds for F.I.S.H.. The outing will help F.I.S.H provide Christmas to Pine Island families that are in need."

Dowd, who began the event, said over the last six years the golf outing has raised more than $20,000 for Fellow Islanders Sending Help

The golf scramble is a 9-hole golf event to be held Friday, Dec. 13.

Although individuals are encouraged to register before the outing, they can also do so the day of the event. Registration is $40 per person, which includes greens fees, a cart, a buffet supper and drawing.

"Please come out and support F.I.S.H.," Dowd said.

Dowd said the dinner is primarily fried chicken and ham with deserts, salads and side dishes made by members of F.I.S.H. She said Publix donated the ham and Winn-Dixie donated fried chicken for the cause.
