Island girls to perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

October 30, 2013
Pine Island Eagle

Two local Pine Island residents will be taking their talent to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. Jessica Teets and Courtney Morris will be a part of the Great American Marching Band, spinning their flags through downtown New York City on Turkey Day.

Both are seniors at Ida Baker High School, and both are featured performers in the Bulldogs' marching band's color guard.

To be chosen, hopefuls must submit photos and videos highlighting their special talents, and winners are chosen from thousands of applicants.

Each one has been tasked with raising funds for the trip, and each has come close, but more is needed to get them on their way.

The two participants will travel on the Saturday before Thanksgiving to begin practice sessions in New York, and then their big performance will be televised throughout the country.
