Injured motorcyclist recovering following crash

October 24, 2013
Pine Island Eagle

A Cape Coral motorcyclist was improving at a hospital Thursday after crashing into a car.

Christopher Brady Griffiths, 42, of 1810 S.W. 47th Terrace, was listed in good condition at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken following Monday's accident on Cape Coral Parkway East.

At about 12:33 p.m., Griffiths was headed westbound on Cape Coral Parkway in the middle lane on a Triumph motorcycle, according to police. Witnesses reported that he was going in excess of 60 mph.

In the 200 block, Griffiths reportedly changed lanes to the inside lane, then tried to change lanes back to the middle lane. The motorcycle struck the rear of a westbound Nissan Altima in the inside lane.

The collision caused Griffiths to be ejected from the motorcycle, according to police.

He sustained life-threatening injuries and was trauma-alerted to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Nissan, Jarod M. Gibbs, 31, of 16115 Via Solera Circle, Apt. 103, Fort Myers, was not injured during the accident.

Griffiths was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police reported that alcohol was a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
