Barge Party VIII kicked off Saturday, Oct. 5, with Sticky Revenge and by the time it was over on Sunday, Oct. 6, Jim Frock of Sandbar Productions said he was satisfied with the results.
"This is the eighth time we've held this event and although there was a smaller turnout this year, everything came together great," Frock said. "Each time we hold a barge party, things go a little easier and smoother."
Four bands provided the music for the event: Sticky Revenge, Deb and the Dynamics, Michael Locke and the Repeat Offenders and Ellie Lee & Blues Fury.
“Floating” concert-goers enjoy the music at the recent Barge Party VIII at Two Pines Sandbar.
"This area is so unique," Frock said. "There are so many generous people here in Southwest Florida that I knew if I reached out to local businesses we would be able to put together a great event and raise money for local charities. This year it's the Matlacha Hookers. In past years we've helped the employees of Low Key Tiki after a suspicious fire, Little League Baseball, From Our Hearts and several others."
In 1998, a small group of women got together and decided to make a difference in their community. These 21 women formed the Matlacha Hookers.
"In those 15 years, the Hookers have contributed greatly to this community," Frock said. "This year I'm happy we are able to help the Hookers.
