Cape Coral police are searching for the man who pulled a handgun and shot another man twice while in a parked car on Southwest 47th Terrace Saturday night.
Jamar Lee Martin 20, is in critical but stable contition at Lee Memorial Hospital after he was stuck twice, once in the face and once in the shoulder. Police say the shooter got in the back seat of a car in which he was riding after it pulled into a carport in the 500 block of Southwest 47th at about 10:30 p.m., according to a prepared statement issued Sunday.
The man being sought pulled a gun, pointed it at both the driver and Martin, officials said. A struggle ensued and the gunman fired several shots, two which struck Martin.
All three men got out of the car. The gunman fled on foot as did the driver. Martin stumbled to 500 Cape Coral Parkway and flagged down a motorist who called police.
Martin was conscious and alert when he was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where he remained Sunday.
Police believe that this was not a random incident and do not believe that there is an imminent threat to the public at large, officials said.
