The Matlacha Hookers held their annual meeting at Woody's in Cape Coral Monday evening. Madam DJ Ruscik and director Sandy Kerr presented a $1,000 check to Pine Island Elementary School Principal Robert Mazzoli.

"As many of you may know, Pine Island Elementary scored an 'A' again this year and among all Lee County schools, scored 50th out of something like 1,500 schools. We raised this money from the 2012 Pine Island Elementary Fishing Tournament and Derby last October," Ruscik said. "I am pleased to present to Principal Mazzoli a check for $1,000. We are always pleased to assist Pine Island Elementary whenever we can."

"Thank you for all you've done for Pine Island Elementary School," Mazzoli said. "I can't tell you how much we appreciate the work all of you do. I am very proud of all of my teachers and staff for their hard work and dedication in making our school what it is. And, of course, we have very dedicated and committed parents. Thanks so much for your help. This goes a long way to assuring every student has the tools to make them successful. Thank you very much."
