At 1:19 a.m,. Tuesday morning, Aug. 13, a fire was reported by a Lee County Sheriff's Department helicopter pilot flying over Pine Island. The fire was determined to be located at 7385 Caloosa Drive between Bokeelia and Robert Roads.

Five fire trucks, and nine personnel, were sent to the scene: three engine pumpers, one tanker and a brush truck. The brush truck was sent because of the heavy brush surrounding the property.

When firefighters arrived they found a mobile home and a car engulfed in flames. It seems the property had been abandoned for some time.
