To the editor:
For the fifth year in a row, the Matlacha Hookers volunteered for the Summer Lunch Program put on by the Lee County Schools.
The program was available at three locations: Pine Island Community Pool, Pine island Elementary School and Church of God Prophesy in Bokeelia. The program has grown every year and this year's program was a huge success.
We served 2,490 lunches between our three locations and 263 breakfasts at Pine Island Elementary School.
I would first like to thank Diane Greer the cafeteria manager at Pine Island Elementary, who sacrificed her summer to make this program possible, without her we would not be able to have the program on the island. Also a huge thanks to my volunteers who gave their time: Mindy Koster, Siggy Seaks, Jeannette Jones, Patt Parlon, Mary Margret, Linaya Yates, Sarah Sciple, Mary Schutte, Rya Snipes, Kelsey Marshall and Dillon Marshall.
Another key part of the program's success was Nellie at the Church of God of Prophecy who runs the church in the summer and Sandy Reynolds and her lifeguards at the Pine Island Community Pool.
A big thanks to all who helped make this program a huge success, I couldn't have done it without each and every one of you!
