Louis "Lou" Joseph Armani, 88, of St. James City, passed away July 12, 2013. He was born on Jan. 28, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Moderanno and Caterina Armani. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. In 1950, he earned a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Pratt Institute and completed post-graduate work in Radar Systems Engineering at Adelphi University. With the exception of his work on the Apollo Lunar Landing Program, he was engaged in military electronics until his retirement in 1987. He received several commendations for his contributions and was highly regarded by his peers.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Pine Island American Legion.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen Armani; son, Glenn (Jan) Armani; and grandson, Paul Armani, of Denver, Colo.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Aug. 5, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 12175 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia.
