The Pine Island Playhouse is holding auditions next month for another play, which is open to the community.
Pine Island Play House Coordinator Nichole Pichon said she is writing the stage adaptation of "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott.
"Little Women is a coming of age story about the March girls, Meg, 16; Jo, 14; Beth, 13; and Amy, 12," she said.
The adaptation will be centered around Jo, who Pichon feels is the protagonist of the story.
"The play takes place during the revolutionary war. The girls' father is off in the war and the girls are left to tend to the house and chores," she said. "Jo takes the role as man of the house while her father is away. The girls go through several trials and tribulations throughout the play and grow into responsible women."
There is no preparation needed for the audition, due to Pichon providing a selection for people to audition with.
"People can just show up, fill out an audition form, and perform the piece I selected," she said.
The auditions for "Little Women" will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 5 and 6, from 7:30-9:30 p.m., at the Beacon of H.O.P.E. Individuals can show up to audition at any time during the two hour window. The roles range from 12-65 years old.
Pichon said she is also looking for people who are interested in helping back stage as well.
"For those people that aren't interested in being on stage, there are several roles that need to be filled backstage," she said. "I will be looking for a stage manager, light board operator, sound board operator, props master, seamstresses, set builders/painters, front of house manager and photographers/videographers."
Pichon said she asks that those interested in working backstage fill out an audition form with their contact information. If they cannot make it to the audition dates, they can send an email to email@example.com.
