To the editor:
The Pine Island 4th of July parade was a great success. Hats off to the organizers and participants. I'm sure everybody enjoyed it. But alas, the spectators were embarrassing. From where I stood, I could not see anyone honoring the flag. No holding your hand over the heart, no salutes, not even standing up when the flag passed. Not just once, but time after time.
Terrible example for the kids and veterans might ask themselves, "Are these the people we're fighting for." Do they teach the pledge of allegiance to the kids in school anymore? If not why?
First they eliminate morals, now patriotism. That leaves crime and corruption which the politicians excel at. Maybe we should follow the Egyptians' example. We'll see how that works out. Wake up America before its too late.
God bless the United States.
