A new free class at Spa 33 will educate residents how pure essential oils can enhance their health.
Spa 33 Nail Technician Carrie Barnhill said the classes will focus on doTerra Essential Oils, which are certified pure therapeutic grade oils. She said the name of the product doTerra means "from the earth."
"It's just the oil, everything else is taken out," Barnhill said, adding that the oils are indigenous of their native surroundings. "It comes from all over, which makes the oils much nicer."
Spa 33 owner Nadine Southall said since essential oils are being absorbed into the body, it is important to utilize pure oils.
Barnhill said with the oils being pure, an individual can smell them, drink them, wear them and cook with them without any side affects.
"You can't overuse them," Southall said of the oils." "We want to educate people how they can enhance their health."

Although the essential oils can be used for many health-related symptoms, she said they should not take the place of an individual's physician.Once a month Barnhill highlights one essential oil, with lavender being the month of April. Some of the health benefits of lavender are relieving anxiety and tension, reducing insomnia, promoting well-being, improving concentration, calming agitation, as well as being utilized for antibacterial uses and sunburns.
In addition, the oil of the month is also used with the manicures and pedicures, as well as massages and facials to further demonstrate the health benefits of the essential oils.
Next month, lemon will be highlighted.
Southall said, in addition to health benefits, essential oils can also be used for cleaning products. She said all you have to do is mix a few drops of the oil with water.
By using the oils, Southall said, no toxins are being used.
"It is so pure, you only use a couple drops of oil," she said.
Barnhill said using pure essential oils is easy.
