Steve Patt reflected some of his perceptions of living at Flamingo Bay on the "sun rise and sun set" flamingo paintings on its marque. He feels blessed to have ended up here for the winter months. He knows that being here means many things to a variety of people from all over.
Patt hopes when individuals look at the paintings (stand 12 to 15 feet away) whether living here full-time or part-time they will find some shared symbolism that they can reflect upon. He volunteered more than 50 hours creating the marquee murals for Flamingo Bay and all those who pass by.
Patt is an Ohio artist who earned his bachelors of fine and professional arts degree from Kent State University. He received his masters of arts degree from Akron University.

He also was certified to teach art k-12 in which he retired from teaching after 30 years. Patt has taught art workshops, judged art shows and art fairs, written art educational programs and established his own art business.
His art business was called S + P Enterprises in which he did original art designs and commission work. Some of his work included sculptures, ceramic forms (both figurative and functional), industrial designs: murals, forms and logos, and nautical designs. He has designed figurative bottle designs, and figurative designs for pattern companies.
He also created an original sculpture for Saint Patrick, and baptismal bowls and urns, and original designed hand carved giving tree for churches.
He learned special mold making techniques that he was able to apply to most production casting.
Patt said he was very lucky and blessed to have ended up at Flamingo Bay for the winter.
"It is a joy each day to experience the environment," he said.
