To the editor:
The "Sunday Brunch in the Garden" fund-raiser organized by Pamela Walker for the benefit of C.A.T.S., founded by Pine Island resident Edith Schulte, turned out to be an amazing event! In collaboration with Diane & Scott Lampitt, the event was held at Earth & Spirit Garden Gallery on Sunday, Feb. 17, and raised more than $1,800. The day consisted of a full breakfast, silent auction, bake sale, and mini-manicures. "We were afraid the cold weather would turn people away," said Lampitt, "But so many people came out in support of Edith and had a great time!" The success of the event is due to the generosity of everyone who attended along with the following people and businesses who donated to the cause:
Tarpon Lodge, Executive Chef Mary Elizabeth, Barnacle Phil's, JD & Gina Hollway along with their 4 boys, The Waterfront Restaurant & Marina, Sherrie Philips, Winn-Dixie, Kaitlin Smith, Earth & Spirit Garden Gallery, Angela Aradia, Luretta Williams Sims, Lazy Flamingo, Four Winds Marina, Doc Watson's Liquors, Island Grill, Deb Luden, Naples Cigar Bar, Sally Braund, Barb Darling, Susie Quattro, Debbie Antonucci, Lisa Worthington, Dorothy Lampitt, Sarah Hyde and her sons. In addition Erica Murray spent the day painting nails for donations, Jill Larson provided amazing cookies & cupcakes for donations, and our volunteers who did anything asked of them. Susie Quattro organized the raffle sales and drawings and the Hollway & Hyde Boys for keeping Toby, the cat loving Chocolate Lab entertained and out of the gravy buckets! Also, there were many others who donated items anonymously!
This brunch was a testament to the Pine Island sense of community and camaraderie at its best!
