Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

I would like to thank all of those who contributed to the success of my book, "Boat Goat Memories of Pine Island Sound, Florida." Naturally thanks go to those of you purchased the 500 copies of the book. The book would not have been possible without the cooperation of the fisherfolke who lived on Pine Island and on the islands of the sound to the west, all the way to Cayo Costa. The subject primarily covered the years from 1900 to the 1950s and it was not easy to still find people who remembered those days, indeed Captains Charles Spearing and Corbett Levens have since passed away. Thanks also go to the captains and crew of the Tropic Star and to its owner Vince Tapager for their support. If there is further interest "Boat Goat" I will consider a second printing.

Capt. J. Kirk Walter
