Hookers donate over $2,600 to F.I.S.H.

The Matlacha Hookers raised more than $2,600 through its Christmas caroling fund-raiser last month, which was donated to F.I.S.H. for its Basket Brigade program. The check-passing was held at the Hookers' Monday, Jan. 14, meeting.

Matlacha Hooker Madam DJ Ruscik said last year the group raised $1,700 and the year before that it raised $1,505.

The Hookers went to Captain Con's, the Lazy Flamingo, Tarpon Lodge, Red's, the Elks Lodge, Island Grill, Pork Bellies, the Moose, the VFW, the American Legion, Low Key Tiki, the Waterfront, Woody's in St James City and Cape Coral, Sandy Hook, The Seafood Spot, Bert's Bar, Miceli's, Ragged Ass Saloon, Beef O'Bradys and Bubba's. The Christmas caroling took place during three days in December.

Peg Harmon, a member of F.I.S.H. said the $2,688.77 will go into the Basket Brigade account, so they can further help the community.
