The Matlacha Hookers gave a donation of $12,000 to the Pine Island Elementary School principal Thursday night as the result of the money raised during the group's annual fishing tournament held in October.

As Matlacha Hooker Madam DJ Ruscik announced that it was with great pleasure to present Principal Rob Mazzoli of Pine Island Elementary School with a check for $12,000, those attending the meeting at the Elks Lodge erupted with applause.

The 14th Annual Pine Island Elementary Fishing Tournament & Derby raised $14,000 this year for the school. Two thousand dollars was set-aside for the teachers to purchase supplies for the spring and fall semester.
