Pine Island's 'Feed the Families' meal has changed to Sundays, 5 p.m., at 5320 Doug Taylor Circle (PICC warehouse/church). Please spread the word that our meal day has changed and encourage anyone wanting a good meal to attend. The meals are usually a complete hot meal with side dishes and dessert. They are offered free of charge. (Any donations received go back into the program.)
'Feed the Families' is a non-denominational volunteer service provided to the Pine Island community. It is supported by a number of the island associations and hosted by the Pine Island Community Church. Anyone wanting a meal on Sun-day evenings at 5 p.m. is welcome to attend!
The program is also looking for additional volunteers to help with this rewarding community service. Normally volunteers make a side dish or food item, and/or help set up, tear down, or serve the food for one Sunday a month. We can use individual volunteers or encourage groups to volunteer for one Sunday a month.
We would love to have other churches or community groups take responsibility for providing the meal one Sunday a month. Helping can be as simple as cutting up fruit or vegetables and dropping off the food item before the meal. If you enjoy cooking we frequently have supplies that need to be prepared, or you can donate the foods yourself. Even those staying to help from start to finish are usually only there 4:40 to 6:15 p.m. Vol-unteers share the meals and fellowship.
Persons wanting more information or willing to donate their time, talents, and/or food are encouraged to contact Elida Byard at 717-829-6432, or PICC at 239-283-9944.
