Cat of the Week

October 31, 2012
Pine Island Eagle

Harley is a gorgeous silver tabby that someone left outside when they moved. He is FIV positive, but has no other signs of illness. He loves to be brushed and petted. He tolerates the other kitties, but would prefer to have you all to himself. The FIV it isn't as bad as it sounds. FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a lentivirus, meaning that it progresses very slowly, gradually affecting a cat's immune system. It is passed through blood transfusions and through serious, penetrating bite wounds (mainly by stray, intact male cats). FIV cats usually live long and healthy lives as long as they receive good care, a healthy diet and regular vet check ups. So if you can provide that, Harley will love you forever!
