Pine Island Eagle

The Publix store across from Del Tura will close today and the new Publix at the Shoppes at Del Prado will open on Thursday, Oct. 25.

The new Shoppes at Del Prado on the corner of Del Prado Extension and U.S. 41 in North Fort Myers.

In addition to the traditional grocery, meat, produce, dairy and frozen food departments, the 45,600-square-foot store will contain the following full-service departments: bakery, deli, fresh seafood and pharmacy. This store also will include a 1,400-square-foot Publix Liquors. Approximately 120 Publix associates will be employed at the store.

"This store will have our new paint and decor package," said Shannon Patten, manager of Media & Community Relations. "In addition to a change in overall environment the store will also have an expanded variety of natural organic and earth-friendly items. Our customers will see many familiar faces from the old store as the majority of the associates will be transferring from the old store. We did also hire some additional staff."

Store hours will be seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Pharmacy hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The liquor store will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Also coming into the plaza will be a Walgreens, now under construction, with an opening date to be announced.

Other businesses in the plaza already leased by Colliers International are Nail Art & Company, Pak n Ship, China Wok Take Out and GNC Nutrition, according to Colliers International Marketing Coordinator & Office Liaison

Customer satisfaction is the reason for a new store less than a mile from the current one and another new store that recently opened on Bayshore Road, officials said.

"There are a lot of factors that determine where and when we open a new store," said Patton. "Serving customers with a convenient location to us is on the top of that list. It is not uncommon for us to have multiple locations in close proximity to one another, especially if there is enough business to sustain multiple locations."

The Shoppes at Del Prado is located at 17960 N. Tamiami Trail.
