Pine Island CERT in need of funds

October 24, 2012
By PAUL BAUMANN (CERT Public Info Officer) , Pine Island Eagle

Your Pine Island Community Emergency Response Team is in need of funds and is asking for donations from Pine Island-Matlacha Fire District residents and organizations. Contributions can be dropped off at fire station number 1 at the center, or mailed to; Community Emergency Response Team, 5700 Pine Island Rd, Bokeelia, Fl. 33922.

CERT is also raising funds through the sale of coupons for the Fall Charity Sale put on by Belk's department stores.

Belk invites schools and other non-profit organizations to participate in its semi-annual Belk Charity Sale on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. The 4-hour in-store shopping event offers a fund-raising event for participating organizations to support local charities. A five-dollar coupon is needed to participate in the sale. CERT team members have several hundred coupons to sell and if you don't know a CERT member you obtain them at fire station number 1 at the center.

On the morning of the sale the first 100 customers to arrive at the store will receive a Belk gift card ranging in value from $5 to $100 dollars and a chance to win one of three $1,000 cards. In addition to that many items in store are on a special sale with 20 to 70 percent off on rarely discounted brands, including $5 off on your first purchase that recovers your cost of purchasing the coupon.

I hope to see you all at Belk's on the morning of Nov. 3.
