Chili Cook-off another success

October 17, 2012
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

The 5th Annual Ladies Auxiliary Post 4353 Chili Cook-off on Sept. 29 was another success. The winners were: 1st place, John Quinn; 2nd place, Sheryl Doling; and 3rd place, Gordon Bullene. The People's Choice winners were: 1st place, John Quinn; 2nd place, Toni Birdwell; and 3rd place, Sheryl Doling. We had nine delicious entries and they were all winners. The Bean Count winner was Ron King with his guess of 5,106; the actual number of beans was 5,149.

I would like to thank all the participants, all the tasters and the three anonymous judges, Gary Lufriu, Al Tomonak and Mike Sullivan. Thank you to the volunteers who helped: Diane Trazarra, Karen Mellor, Joyce Lake, Becki, Jeannette Smallwood and Cluadia Butz. It couldn't have happened without you. Great job everyone!

Thank you for the donations - Winn-Dixie, VFW Post, VFW Men's Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Suncoast Beverage, J.J. Taylor, Mango Tango, Doctor Watson, Sue Tomonak, Anita Martin, Joyce Lake, Jill Davidson and Penny Allen.

I apologize if there is anyone that I missed. I thank each and every one of you for all you have done to make this a big success.

Bernadette Sullivan

President, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4353
