Stepping down from The Pine Island Wildlife Sanctuary Organization

September 26, 2012
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

We are sending this letter to the editor to let the public know that we have both stepped down from our involvement with the PIWS (Pine Island Wildlife Sanctuary) organization, as of July 26, 2012. When the idea was formed a number of months ago, we, like many residents of Pine Island, felt the idea was a great concept that would benefit the wildlife on Pine Island. Unfortunately, issues with the board, the fact they took down the website and have not responded to phone calls and e-mails from the supporters on the island, have forced us to go public and inform everyone we no longer have any affiliation with the PIWS. We hope that the current board of directors provides an update on the status of the PIWS to all those on Pine Island who donated time, money and equipment to the PIWS.

Hopefully, things can be re-organized and those who were so enthusiastic about Pine Island having their own wildlife organization can again be informed and, in the future, be more involved in the future of the PIWS.

Sincerely,

Eileen Rowan, former vice president and veterinarian

Barbara Peckinpaugh,

former secretary
