PI Workday

September 19, 2012
Pine Island Eagle

Approximately 50 volunteers provided a helping had at Galt Island Preserve in St. James City Saturday morning to plant 400 plants. There were representatives from the Calusa Land Trust, Pine Island Garden Club and the Native Plant Society who planted the shrubs near the preserve's lake. The Pine Island Fire Department also lent a helping hand because of a broken water truck. Since Deputy Chief Joe Marzella was volunteering with his family he went back to the station and brought their brush truck to water the plants.
