Comedy For Kids Cancer fund raiser

Caleb's Crusade and the Groove Street Comedy Club will present Comdy for Cancer on Thursday, Sept. 13, at Groove Street in Fort Myers.

Doors for the fund raiser will open at 6:30 p.m.. The even also will feature a silent auctiona nd 50/50 raffle.

Groove Street Comedy Club is at 8595 College Parkway, No. B6.

Great River Duck Race

Oma's Heart will be hosting its first Great River Duck Race at Sun Splash Family Water-park in Cape Coral Saturday, Sept. 15. Race time is set for 5 p.m. Santa Claus will be on hand to release 1,000 little rubber ducks into the Lazy River at the city waterpark. Prizes will be awarded to the "owners" of the first, second and third - and last - ducks in. Ducks will be available to purchase up until the race. The cost is $5 per duck, 6 for $25, 12 for $50 and 25 for $100. There is no cost to see the race. For information, go to www.omasheart.org

Peace Day in the Park

The fifth annual Peace Day in the Park will be held at Jaycee Park Sunday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Peace Day in the Park 2008" kicked off the annual celebration as a grass roots project with a simple goal, to spread the awareness that a single day of peace does in fact exist - Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace! This is a free event to be enjoyed by all, and there will be something for everyone.

Caloosa Nature Center and Planetarium

The next Batman movie at the Caloosa Nature Center and Plnetarium will be Batman Returns at 8 p.m. Oct. 6. Movies are 2 hours 6 minutes long and rated PG-13. Popcorn, candy, sodas and water will be available for sale. Admission: $10 non-members, $8 members, children 5 and under free

Rhythm And Reels Redfish Tournament and Music Festival

The Resort at MarinaVillage and Tarpon Point Marina will host the inaugural Rhythm And Reels Redfish Tournament and Music Festival in Cape Coral Oct. 5 through Oct. 7. This three-day event is centered on the Redfish Tournament offering multiple cash prizes, including a grand prize of $8,000!

Concerts and local music will be featured at the Music Festival Grounds at Tarpon Point Marina starting on Friday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 7. Music concerts include Deb & The Dynamics on Friday and, on Saturday, there will be an all day music festival featuring local band, PUSH followed by legendary bands, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Blue Oyster Cult!

This familyfriendly weekend event will offer kid's activities provided by the Resort Activities Team and Bass Pro Shops will have a booth on site and will be providing additional activities for kids throughout the weekend. There will also be a wide variety of vendors available during the event offering items for purchase for guests to enjoy.

Polynesian dinner show

Lake Kennedy Center's community partner, Clare Bridge/ Brookdale Senior Living, will heat things up at the center on Sept. 14 as they welcome to the center stage Chicago Heat for an evening of tropical fun with a Polynesian flair!

Join this professional foursome as they take the stage and rock the house performing the best of Caribbean/Keys, Reggae, Classic Rock, Rock-n-Roll, Oldies, Rhythm and Blues, and much more! Be ready to move and groove all evening long.

The cost is $18 member and $23 non-member and includes show, dinner, beverage, and dessert. Menu includes baked ziti, meatballs, meat sauce or cream sauce, salad, butter and roll.

Farmers Market at Cape Harbour

Succulent fruits, garden-fresh vegetables, seafood delights and homemade breads and desserts are just some of the mouth watering treats that will be offered at this season's Farmers Market at Cape Harbour. The market opened in May and will be held from 8 a.m. until noon and continue every Saturday until early October.

A host of quality vendors have been chosen to offer an array of locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as freshly made breads and pastries, honey, jelly, potted plants, hand made soaps and much more.

Seasonal fruits and vegetables including peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, peaches, mangos, papayas and pineapple are among the delectable offerings. In addition to the Farmers Market the Merchants at Cape Harbour will open their doors to offer shoppers a host of treasures & treats.

Habitat for Humanity looking for volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties is in need of volunteers. They have construction, office, Thrift Store, special events and bulk mailing volunteer opportunities. Visit www.habitat4humantiy.org.

Restore in North Fort Myers and Bonita Springs is looking for volunteers who are able to assist with phones or help load and unload trucks. Shifts are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to noon or noon to 4 pm.

Office positions are available Tuesday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. They are looking for volunteers that can volunteer on a regular basis and help with office functions, such as answering the phone, greeting clients, filing, etc. Computer experience is preferred.
