Mrs. Theresa R. (Sofka) Nonnemaker, 81, of St. James City died Sunday, July 29, 2012, in her daughter's home after an illness..
Lovingly known to family and friends as "Tess," she was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Hellertown, Pa., a daughter of Francis and Bertha (Chek) Sofka. Born and raised in Hellertown, Pa., she and her husband, Edward, now deceased, moved to Florida in 1988. She enjoyed a good conversation with friends and family; a round of golf; painting in watercolor; vacationing with her family and fishing in both fresh and salt water.
In addition to her husband, Ed, she is predeceased by her daughter, Carol A. Auben.
She leaves her daughters, Nancy J. (Charles) Gillingham of Northborough, Mass., and Karen J. Stricklin of Los Alamitos, Calif.; her grandchildren, Michael C. and Theresa R. Gillingham, Nicole E. Padilla, Cristina E. Stricklin, Julianne E. Stricklin, Rachel E. Stricklin, Christine K. Mason, Matthew E. Way and Lisa A. Parks; also four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Frank Sofka and Thomas Sofka, both in Hellertown, Pa., and Joseph Sofka in New Jersey; nieces and nephews.
Entombment in Coral Ridge Cemetery in Cape Coral will be private.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Tess' life at a Memorial Service Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m., at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, Florida.
