Dave Higgins, 64, of Bokeelia, passed away suddenly on May 18, 2012. He was born in Summit, N.J. on March 27, 1948. Dave was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering (New Jersey Institute of Technology) and worked for more than 30 years as a Sales Executive in the shrink and stretch wrapping industries. While in college, he met and married Dianne P. (Dibeler) Higgins. Dave and Dianne moved to the Tampa Bay area in August 1986 and continued to work there until their retirement to Bokeelia, FL in Sept. 2004.
He is survived by his wife of more than 41 years, sisters Kathleen Wilson and husband Kenneth; Ellen Whiting and fiance Howard Carpenter; brother Don Higgins and wife Maylinda,; brother-in-law Vernon H. Dibeler, II; sister-in law Arlene Carr and husband Jon; father-in-law Vernon Dibeler, Sr.; 3 nieces, a nephew and several great nieces and nephews.
Dave was an avid reader of fiction books; enjoying a wide variety of authors on the best seller lists. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Pine Island FISH organization assisting them with Special Needs requests, transportation of clients and the loan mobility equipment.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2 pm at Pine Island United Methodist Church, 5701 Pine Island Rd, Bokeelia, FL 33922.
