Vernon Dale Van Tasell, 77, of Cape Coral passed away May 9, 2012, at Hope Hospice surrounded by his family. Born in Coggon, Iowa, Sept. 26, 1934, he served in the U.S. Army as a map specialist during the Korean War. After returning from the war, he owned Van's Concrete along with Van's Sporting Goods in Independence, Iowa.
He and family moved to Cape Coral in 1988.Shortly after that, he purchased Cape Coral RentA-Car and successfully grew that business until his retirement in 1999.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Phyllis; children, Gwenlyn Nash, Kristie (Darryl) Coulter, Mark (Nikki) Van Tasell and Ryan (Lisa) Van Tasell; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
