There still are people who care

May 2, 2012
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

On the week of April 12, four of us rookie bait-catchers from Wisconsin and Minnesota were attempting to catch bait right off of Bokeelia. After several attempts of not doing well, we observed a boat doing quite well at catching bait. We asked him how he was doing and he said the bait were kind of skiddish that day. Then he said he was going out to a reef where there were more bait fish. We asked if we could follow and he said follow me. We followed out to the reef and again our attempts were not good as his were successful at catching bait. A last he pulled over by our boat and offered us some of his bait as he said he had too much.

This kind and generous man was Capt. Ken Honc. God bless him and all the people that have an opportunity to receive his kindness.

Thanks, thanks, thanks!
