Long-time Cape Coral resident, Thomas S. Martin, 73, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, after a long illness. A son of William Oliver and Grace Martin, he was born in Athens, Ohio, May 14, 1938. He lived and attended school in Narragansett and Wakefield, R.I., before attending Georgetown University, graduating in 1960. He held a certificate from the University of Aix-en-Provence, a masters degree from Yale University, and he pursued further graduate studies at the University of Toronto. For several years he taught international relations at Champlain Regional College in Lennoxville, Quebec, where he was an avid gardener and cross country skier. In Cape Coral, he became an avid sailor.
He is survived by a brother, Richard Martin of Granite Fall, N.C., and a sister Carol Martin of Capetown, South Africa.
