David Barr Herbott Sr., 73, a long-time resident of St. James City, formerly of Horsham, Pa., and Sea Isle City, N.J., died unexpectedly Saturday, March 21, 2012.
He was born in Philadelphia Feb. 22, 1939. He was a jet mechanic in the U.S. Navy. He had a wide variety of occupations from owning a chain of fabric stores, a marina, rental properties and the Happy Tap Lounge. He spent several years working as a millwright and he built and remodeled homes.
He enjoyed his pitcher of beer at the American Legion Post with friends and was a member of the Moose.
He is survived by his son, Dave Herbott Jr. (Shanda); grandsons, Brett and Josh Herbott; his daughter Deborah Herbott-Brown (Steve), Jackie and Jessica Brown; his son, Keith Herbott (Andrea') and grandson Justin Herbott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise.
As per his wishes, a private ceremony will be held by his family.
