Ted H. Schmidt, 72, of Cape Coral, died of complications from cancer Monday, March 19, 2012 at Cape Coral Hospital.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., he graduated with a masters' degree in education from the State University of New York. He taught from elementary all the way through college and in the state prison system. He was a lifetime member and teacher of the United States Power Squadron, even after his retirement in 2000. He was a past commander for the Fort Myers Power Squadron and received the Chapman award from the United States Power Squadron for Excellence in Teaching.
THe married Sally Ann Schmidt on Dec. 20, 1975, in LeRoy, N.Y.
Mr. Schmidt is survived by his wife Sally; his son, Robert (Elizabeth); daughter, Lori (fianc Davis); daughter, Lisa; and four grandchildren.
The was predeceased by his father and mother, Frederick and Marilyn Schmidt.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 24, at the Church of the Epiphany, 2507 S. Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral.
A reception immediately followed at the church.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
