A local hangout in St. James City is now serving dinner seven days a week for the entire family to enjoy.

Romana Gavrinev moved to Pine Island in 1989 and purchased Froggy's 10 years later. In 2004, she and her husband took full ownership of the place.

The idea of serving food at Froggy's stemmed from Gavrinev providing free food for the community on Wednesdays.

"They liked the food," she said. "I might as well open the kitchen."

In November, Gavrinev decided to serve dinner again, which included a European twist due to her arriving in the states from the Czech Republic. Some of the menu items, which were created by Gavrinev, include fried pickles, honey dipped and BBQ shrimp, frog legs, baby back ribs, Froggy Burger and wings.

The best special that is currently being offered is 24 wings and a pitcher of beer for $16 on Wednesdays.

All the food that is served is cooked from scratch. Gavrinev said they do not serve anything that is premade.

The most expensive item on the menu is a full order of frog legs for $12. Gavrinev said the food is not overpriced and individuals receive good portions for what they are paying for.

She said individuals can create their own dish by mixing and matching menu items.

"As long as we have it, you can do it," Gavrinev said about her customers creating their own meal.

She said they will also prepare an individual's catch of the day if they bring it into Froggy's during dinner hours.

While dinner is served seven days a week from 4-9 p.m., there is no smoking in the bar. Individuals can sit outside in the screened in area or out back at the few tables that are set up, as well as inside.

Froggy's also features live music Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the community to enjoy as well.

The bar offers daily specials, along with a happy hour from 4-7 p.m. Gavrinev said individuals can also purchase beer and liquor to go.

Gavrinev said Froggy's is biker friendly. She said she wants the biker community to feel welcome at her place.
