Virginia "Ginger" S. Harvey, 65, a Southwest Florida resident since 1980, died peacefully at her home in Bokeelia, Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Manchester, Conn., to the late William Arthur Staddon and Ruth Irene McAllister Staddon, who survives and resides in Cape Coral.
The oldest of five girls, she is also survived by her husband, David Harvey of Bokeelia; a daughter, Christine (Fisher) Starrett of Cape Coral; a step-son, Shawn Harvey of Cape Coral; a step-daughter, Stacey Gray of North Fort Myers; three grandchildren, Brandon Starrett, and Ariel and Conner Gray; as well as her four sisters, Gail (Ty) Voigt of Sterling Heights, Mich., Sharon (Robert) Harss of Manchester, Conn., Nancy (Stephen) Bleiler of Alexandria, N.H., and Judi (John) Sanderford of Burbank, Cailf.; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends whom she dearly loved.
All that knew her will miss her greatly as she lived her life serving those she loved with selfless compassion. She was a hard worker who loved to have fun. Her many activities included fishing, tennis, boating and all types of competitive games. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pine Island where she ministered in many capacities including serving in the nursery.
A memorial services was held Feb. 18 at the First Baptist Church of Pine Island, 5363 Avenue D, Bokeelia, with Pastor Clyde Michener officiating. The family received friends prior to the service at the church.
