Pine Island continues to show its best as a true community; this was demonstrated this past Wednesday with the fund raiser "Prime Rib Dinner" and entertainment hosted by Pine Island Elks Lodge 2781. Conceived by entertainer RV Parks, and approved by Joe Eisenberg, Exalted Ruler, the fund raiser was organized by the Elks under the supervision of Sue Trimble and Jo DeShaw who created a successful event. Bill Belke and his staff prepared an outstanding prime rib buffet, with all ticket proceeds going to the building fund of the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the ticket sales, additional funds were raised during a lively auction conducted by auctioneer Scott Robertson.
We would like to thank the following businesses and individuals who contributed to our successful event:
Bernard Johnson (Bert's Bar & Grill), Deb Cole (Bert's Pine Bay Gallery), Brian Urso (Andy's Island Seafood), Bev Lauber (Sandy Hook Restaurant), Steve Timcak (Island Visions Gallery), Matthew Neff (Neff Studio), Chris Capone & Robin Lilly (Little Lilly's Island Deli), Genie Andrews, Meredith Higgins, Dick Rudd, Paul Smith (Old Pine Island Marina), Jay R. We thank all the Elks who volunteered with bartending and clean up and check in.
I hope I have not omitted anyone who contributed to this successful event; so many Pine Islanders participated if I left a name out, it was unintentional. Thank you Pine Island Elks members and island residents for coming out to support your chamber of commerce!
Our sincere thanks,
Lisa Benton, executive director,
