Nancy Virginia Webb Irons passed away Feb. 13, 2012, in Hilliard, Fla., where she had lived since 2000. She moved from Bokeelia, where she and her husband operated and maintained a local retirement community for more than 20 years. Born April 10, 1919, in Philadel-phia, to Harold and Mabel Webb, Mrs. Irons married, had three children and lived in the Toms River, N.J., area until moving to Florida in 1978.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, her husband, Alfred H. Irons Sr.; daughter, Dr. Minerva Irons Apple-gate; granddaughter, Tammy Jane Varnes; and great-grandson, Raymond (R.J.) Tobat Jr.
She is survived by her son, Alfred H. Irons Jr. (Lucy) of Middleburg, Fla.; daughter, Barbara J. Varnes (Wesley) of Hilliard, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Paul Varnes of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Debbie (Billy) Hubbard of E. New Market, Md., Richard (Brenda) Varnes of Pensacola, Fla., Minerva Tobat of E. New Market, Md., Kenny Varnes of Hilliard, Fla., Nancy Varnes (Joe) Hoewischer of Hilliard, Fla., Alfred H. (Lisa) Irons, III, of Denton, Md., Craig (Theresa) Varnes of Jacksonville, Fla., Jonathan (Marie) Varnes of Hilliard, Fla., and Christopher (Allie) Irons of Hilliard, Fla. She was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Shep-hards Funeral Home in Folkston, Ga., and Life Care Center of Hilliard, Fla. The family will be holding a private memorial service in the near future.
In lieu of flowers they ask that donations be made to Life Care Center, Hilliard, Fla., in the name of Nancy Webb Irons.
