Elmer Frederick Goldpenny, 80, of Matlacha passed away after a long battle with cancer at his home on Feb. 1, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born in North Tonawanda, N.Y., to Elmer and Rachel Foster Goldpenny. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the New York Air National Guard 107th.
He worked for Durez Plastic's retiring after 30 years. He was a life member of the N.R.A., life member, director and past-president of Niagara County Sportsman Association. He was a competitive shooter and earned Double Distinguishment in Rifle and Pistol marksmanship and the "Presidents 100." He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing.
Elmer is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 57 years, Linda Alcorn Goldpenny; children, Debra Goldpenny of Buffalo, N.Y., Michael Goldpenny of North Tonawanda, Heidi Goldpenny of St. James City, Jennifer Santa Lucia of Matlacha; grandchildren, Nicholas Goldpenny, Kristopher Santa Lucia, Meghan Goldpenny and Joseph Santa Lucia; brothers, Roger Goldpenny and his twin, Allan Goldpenny.
