John "Bud" E. Wilson, 93, St. James City died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral. Born in Whiting, Ind., he moved to Southwest Florida 57 years ago from Michigan City, Ind. He was a member of the VFW & American Legion. He was married to his loving wife, Eleanor, for 55 years, who preceded him in death in Dec. 1995.
He is survived by his two sons, Thomas Wilson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and James Wilson of Loxahatchee, Fla.; his daughter, Toni (Fred) Jankowski of Loxahatchee, Fla.; grandchildren, Julie (Keith) Schurkus of Riverside, Calif., Lori Jankowski of Ft. Worth, Texas, Scott Jankowski of Jupiter Farms, Fla., Deborah (Drew) Rickey of Ft. Meade, Md., Tom (Kristen) Wilson of Lawrenceville, Ga., Pat (Anna) Wilson of Sunrise, Fla., David Caprio and his family; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Katherine, Garrett, Jordan, Paige, Madison, Mathew, Morgan, Jeff and Zach.
Mr. Wilson was a Purple Heart recipient, World War II, United States Army, 1st Platoon Easy Company, 19th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 24th Division, and fought in the Philippines. He was a true patriot who loved this country.

The family received friends Dec. 20 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Rd. Military honors were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery, 12777 State Rd 82.
