New Year’s Resolutions

To the Editor:

As 2012 fast approaches, we begin to think about our New Year's Resolutions and how we are going to be "better" in the next year. As we go about our every day process of "living," there are so many things that require our attention . . . husband, wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, home, yard, boat, neighbors, job, business, church, civic clubs, social clubs, tennis, bridge, travel, school the obligations are endless and each requires some part of us. We find ourselves scheduling something or someone for every minute of the day and night . . . going from one thing to another.

Much of the time, however, we fail to schedule any time for ourselves . . . to stop . . . to just BE . . . to read . . . to examine how we are spending our precious time . . . to consider our health and what we need to do to be healthier and more fit. There's always something or someone else that says "take care of me now!"

As for me, I resolve to schedule some time in 2012 to take care of my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health! I resolve to find time to stop . . . to be still and know God better. I resolve to read a variety of books that will expand me as a person. I resolve to maintain a healthy weight . . . to exercise and be fit . . . and to eat healthy foods. I resolve to work on family relationships. I resolve to listen to more good music. I resolve to be the best person that I can be. I resolve to be of help to others.

What will you do with your time in 2012? That's 12 months, 365 days, 8,760 hours, 525,600 minutes!
