Philip Christ Jr., 68, of St. James City, formerly of Oakland Park, Fla., passed away at his home on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he was an avid fisherman and a NASCAR enthusiast. He was active in youth recreation programs in both Oakland Park and Pine Island, especially the Little League, where he raised money at the Battle of the Paddle for the children. He thoroughly enjoyed helping others in whatever way he could. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his life mate of 27 years, Alvy Saunders, of St. James City; daughters, Khrysti Uhrin and her husband, Rob, of Alexandria, Va., and Lacia Waddell and her husband, Greg, of Orlando; son, Shawn Saunders and his wife, Tika, of New York; sister, Diane Austin, of Jacksonville; and four grandchildren, Katlyn, Wesley, Samantha and Kyle.
