Barbara Louise Teuscher MacGregor

August 2, 2011
Pine Island Eagle

Barbara Louise Teuscher MacGregor was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Willoughby, Ohio, to William Ernest and Harriet Acker Teuscher. She died in Bokeelia July 22, 2011. She was an honor roll student throughout her school years, attending schools in Mentor, Willoughby, Santa Ana (Calif.) Jr. College and Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She went to night school at Berlitz School of Language, learning French, and learned Principles of Real Estate in Towson (Md.) State University. Her employment over the years included various secretarial work, sales representative, ticket agent and administrative assistant in various positions, including Lubrizol Corporation, Wickliffe, Ohio; University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio; Sabena Belgian Alitalia Airlines and Air India, The Travelers in Norfolk, Va.; Ben Franklin Stores, Md.; Hagan & McEwan in Bokeelia and Pine Island Realtors.

She was active in various volunteer clubs, associations, fund-raising and was president of her local chapter of American Business Women's Association. She traveled extensively in Asia, Europe, Great Britain, the Middle East and to all of the American Clan Gregor Society gatherings in this country and Scotland, especially during the time her husband, Malcolm, was clan chieftain. She was known and loved by all who came into her presence. Her interests were varied, but included golf, biking, gardening, music (especially blue grass), crafting and anyone who came near her around Christmas was stunned by the variety of delicious cookies she made for everyone.

She was very much a people person, and welcomed everyone into her life. She was a mover and a shaker, and instigated many wonderful events, including Derby Day parties, golf cart Christmas caroling and social gatherings of all kinds. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by one brother, Herbert (Barbara) Teuscher; her brother-in-law, Edgar Long; as well as nieces and nephews, including Tracy Teuscher and James (Susan) Long. She is also survived by her step-children, Malcolm (Theresa), Allan, Amanda and Hannah MacGregor, Martha (Craig) Lardent; and step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Beth Hall.

She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm, in August 2010; sisters, Madelyn Smith and Elizabeth Long; and brothers, William E. and Carl Robert Teuscher.

Private services and burial will be held in the fall in Haverhill, Mass. Condolences may be offered at www.nationalcremation.com.
