Christianity is more than just going to church

Good day to you! Can you believe it is March already? Many of our winter visitors are making their preparations to return north. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating Thanksgiving, yet now we find ourselves planning our Easter services. Our new Church is coming along just fine, and we thank the many, many of you who have helped make it such a smashing success. How can we as a Church help you? We want to be involved in the lives of our community, and do what we can. Do you need someone to take you shopping or into town for appointments? Do you need someone to run some errands for you? Is there some housework or minor home repairs we can help with? Perhaps you would like for someone to simply stop by and sit and visit for a while. The Friendship Harmony Baptist Church is here for you. Our first name says it all: Friendship. That is what we offer to you. You do not have to be a member here, nor do you need to attend our services to receive friendship from us. We will be preparing home delivered meals for Easter. Do you need one or know of someone who does? If we can help you with any thing, call me at 283-8331. We are here for you 24/7/365.

Why do we do these things? Christianity is not just about going to church, singing a few hymns, listening to a sermon, and going home. Christianity is not to be a spectator sport religion, but an involvement in the lives of mankind everywhere. Going to Church is important; so much so that Christ went. The Bible tells us in Luke 4:16, “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day…” The New Living Translation also teaches us in Hebrews 10:25 “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

However, the Bible also instructs in James 2:18,20,26, “Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” In other words, Christianity means serving as Christ served. Christianity means believing the words of Jesus when He said, “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. “ Matthew 25:40

Serving the LORD means serving one another. How can we help you? How can you help? If you’d like to be involved in doing for others, give me a call. Lets talk about it.
