Phillip Perestam

March 1, 2011
Pine Island Eagle

Phillip Perestam, 70, formerly of St. James City, passed away Feb. 23, 2011 after a brief stay at Hope Hospice in North Fort Myers. He was born June 2, 1940 and had resided in Newton, NJ before retiring to Pine Island in 2002. He was known for his many beautiful orchids that adorned the trees and fence around his cottage. Many local artists spent time drawing and painting this lovely view.

Phillip is survived by his sister, Linda Leary, also of St. James City, two nieces and one nephew. Out of respect for his wishes, no service or memorial will be held. A special memorial fund has been set up with the school where he taught for 35 years. Anyone wishing to contribute to the fund should make their checks payable to Halsted Street School Drama Club, 59 Halsted Street, Newton, NJ 07860 with a notation in memory of Mr. P.
