PIE students get tips from local golf pro

During last week’s after-school golf program, students were provided with some helpful guidance from an area golf pro. Visiting the students was Alan Manguson, a PGA golf pro from Coral Oaks Golf Course who assisted the youngsters with fine tuning their swings on the driving range.

The after-school golf program has been offered at Pine Island Elementary School for the past six years and is well attended. Each session attracts the interest of 20 or more students.

“Thanks to the generosity of the Pine Island community, we are able to provide the use of very nice equipment for the program,” said program coordinator, Richard Anderson. “The Pine Island community is like none other and we are very fortunate to have their support.”

Assisting Anderson each week for the golf program are Mr. Woodruff, Mr. Romeo, John Petrozii and Amanda Woodruff.
