Eileen Jane Kretz, 82, of Bokeelia, FL passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010. She was born on March 31, 1927 in Chicago, IL to William and Carrie Rehn Barfknecht. She moved here in 1987 from New Canaan, CT. She was an accomplished needlepoint artist and enjoyed collecting artifacts. She attended Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Bokeelia. She was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.

She is survived by her loving family including her husband of 61 years, Philip Kretz; daughters, Karin Steers of Estes Park, CO and Lisa Nilsen of Pine Island; grandchildren, Katie, Susan, Stacy and Graham; and many friends on Pine Island.
