The Lee County Sheriff's Office along with the Pilot Club of Ft. Myers and the Fort Myers Beach Pilot Club proudly recognize November as National Alzheimer's Awareness Month and National Family Caregivers Month.



Alzheimer's affects about 4.5 million Americans, including more than 22,000 Lee County residents. For every person with this irreversible and progressive brain disorder there is often one or more persons who care for them. We honor these caregivers who selflessly devote their time and energy to the cause.



Together with the Pilot Club of Ft. Myers and the Pilot Club of Ft. Myers Beach, the Lee County Sheriff's Office is working to assist those who care for Alzheimer's patients through our Project Lifesaver program. Project Lifesaver helps provide rapid response to save lives and reduce the potential for serious injury for adults who may wander off due to Alzheimer's. With assistance from state of the art radio technology and a personalized wristband worn by those with the disease, our specially trained rescue team has the ability to locate a loved one within minutes of their disappearance.
