Norm's Tasting Notes

Hawk's Crest Cabernet Sauvignon

# 02-10 - PIE

For years I have enjoyed Hawk Crest Cabernet Sauvignon, a secondary label from the famous Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. In the last twenty years this wine has been one of the most consistent wines in the value price range for high quality. The 2006 Hawks Crest Cabernet is once again, one which I would highly reccomend!

The grapes come from the Red Hills of Lake County, and Paso Robles, California. The wine has a good dark red color and the nose of red berries and cocoa. When this Cabernet hits your palate, you are immeadiately aware that this is a quality Cabernet loaded up with gobs of big cherry and currant flavored fruit, and a swirling mist of chocolate. If you like chocolate and cherry in a Cabernet, then you will also love the vanilla accented tannins in the finish!

It assails your senses and does not let go until you take another bite of that medium rare fillet, still hot from the grill! Guess what? Its now time for another sip of the Hawk's Crest! My score on this one is 89!
