2007 Coppola Diamond Collection Cabernet Sauvignon
June 11, 2010 - Norman Bentley
What a wonderful bottle of wine the 2007 Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Cabernet Sauvignon is! There is nothing better than a steak hot off of the grill, and a really good bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Combining grapes from as far north as El Dorado, and as far south as Paso Robles has created a terrific bottle of California Cabernet from the folks at Coppola. The wine is dark red in color with a nose of berries and currants, which drifts away as your palate explodes with rich flavors of dark cherry and cassis. The finish is long and lingering with hints of oak, and mellow toasted flavors which remind you that you need another sip.
The wine comes in at 13.8% alcohol, and is 100% California Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak. Heat up the grill, throw a little garlic and wine on the steaks, and enjoy. I would prefer a New York strip, dark pink in the middle please!
