2015 Jacob's Creek Reserve Shiraz

August 25, 2017 - Norman Bentley

We Had dinner with an old friend last night, his name is Jacob, and we have dined together in the past. Last night it was grilled center cut pork chops and Jacob's Creek Reserve Shiraz. This was the 2015 vintage and a perfect match for chops from the barbie. It was a Southern dinner of pork chops, mac and cheese, and pole beans, with our Aussie friend Jacob as the guest.

The Shiraz opened with a nose full of berries, leading into the taste of blackberries and black raspberries exploding in a juicy mouthful of flavor. There is some tannin in the rich lingering finish, laced with a bit of pepper. This is a big, jammy wine with complexity and finesse. The alcohol content is 14.5%, and Norm's score is 90.

The 2015 Jacob's Creek Reserve Shiraz is a winner with grilled pork chops, and would make an excellent companion for a variety of foods, including lamb, and a host of pasta dishes.

score: 90

price: $11 - $14
