I have been in love with Ruffino Chianti since long before I can remember! Maybe its because when
I was a little boy in Napa, California, the family's favorite Italian Restaurant was a place called Ruffino's
in downtown Napa, where I occasionally got a "sip" of Chianti with my spaghetti. Later, when I was
about twelve, we used to visit Spano's Italian Seafood Restaurant in downtown Columbus, Georgia.
This restaurant was opened in the 1880's and lasted until the 1990's. There I got a three ounce glass
of Ruffino Chianti to go with my Saturday spaghetti lunch. So you might understand that I am well
acquainted with Ruffino Chianti.
I, of course, was not surprised when "The Wine Spectator" gave a 90 score to the 2006 Ruffino
Reserva Ducale Chianti Classico. I love this wine and have consumed dozens of bottle over the last
few decades! The Wine Spectator's description was, "Blueberry and mineral aromas, with hints of new
wood. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a rich core of raspberry fruit and lemony acidity."
The Reserva Ducale is always a wonderful bottle of wine, and best suited for your favorite veal dishes.
My favorite is Veal Marsala, but as I have already revealed, since my youth, I have always enjoyed this
wine with a plate of spaghetti! So when you order the veal, make sure you get a side of spaghetti!
Score - 90
